The World’s Largest Truck Convoy® is an international project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) working in conjunction with members of the trucking industry in order to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics.
The Manitoba convoy event will take place this year on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Participants will depart from Oak Bluff at 11am and will travel counterclockwise around the Perimeter Highway (Hwy#101). Upon their return to Oak Bluff, the participants will be welcomed by Special Olympics athletes, family, friends, colleagues and law enforcement personnel for lunch. A short program including Special Olympics athletes will follow.
Members of the media are invited to attend the event in support of our Special Olympics athletes. Media can join us at Oak Bluff Recreation Centre prior to the 11am Convoy departure, or during the afternoon upon Convoy return. Anyone interested in watching the convoy pass, is encouraged to do so from a safe vantage point, such as any of the service roads alongside the Perimeter Highway.
Since its inception in 2001, the World’s Largest Truck Convoy® has become a one-day celebration of the trucking industry to help raise money for Special Olympics and has raised approximately $2 million in Canada and the U.S. for Special Olympics. In 2009, approximately 1,600 truckers raised in excess of $607,000 in 39 convoy events across Canada and the U.S. in 2010, our Manitoba convoy event involved 52 trucks and raised approximately $22,000

However, we are asking anyone who will be enjoying these free BBQ’s to please make a cash donation at each of the last 3 to help support the Special Olympics. ALL proceeds will go directly to this worthy cause.
Thanks for your great Payne support
